State Excise Dept Seals Licenses of 68 Pubs & Bars, Issues Notices to 77 Others
In a move to enforce compliance with regulations, the state excise department has taken strict action against pubs and bars in and around the city. The licenses of 68 establishments have been sealed until further notice due to violations of norms, while notices have been issued to 77 others. In order to ensure adherence to rules and regulations, webcasting measures are being implemented to monitor if alcohol is being served without verifying proof of age or if any time-related norms are being violated.Over the course of a month, several actions have been taken to strengthen monitoring and control:
- To enhance surveillance, the installation of two CCTV cameras at bar counters has become mandatory. This enables both the excise department and the police to closely monitor the footage.
- In addition to the excise department and the police, the administration will also keep a vigilant eye on the CCTV cameras to ensure compliance.
- To promptly address violations of time limits, a notification system has been put in place. If any pub or bar exceeds the permitted time limit, both the police and the excise department will receive immediate mobile notifications.
- Ongoing inspections will be carried out by a dedicated vigilance team to ensure that all establishments comply with the regulations and guidelines.
- To prevent underage drinking, proof of age will be checked before allowing entry into pubs and bars. This measure aims to ensure the responsible consumption of alcohol and protect the welfare of young individuals.
By implementing these measures, the state excise department aims to maintain a safe and regulated environment within pubs and bars. These actions not only promote compliance with norms but also contribute to safeguarding the well-being of patrons and maintaining the integrity of the establishment.
