Pune TCS Engineer Dies By Suicide; Case Filed Against Three Colleagues for Workplace Harassment

A 48-year-old IT engineer employed at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Pune has died by suicide, allegedly due to prolonged workplace harassment, local police confirmed. The deceased, identified as Amit Abhay Brahme, left behind a detailed two-page suicide note naming three of his colleagues, including two female seniors, as the reason behind his extreme step. Following the discovery, the police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused individuals.

According to the investigation, Brahme died by suicide at his residence on June 2, 2026. The police subsequently recovered a suicide note from his room, which those close to him say exposes a harsh environment of corporate mental harassment. In the note, Brahme alleged that his two senior colleagues, Archana and Shashwati, systematically targeted him. He claimed that high-quality, successful projects were deliberately taken away from him and replaced with impossible tasks designed to ensure failure. The note also detailed constant pressure on him to resign, alongside repeated humiliation in front of his entire team.

Furthermore, Brahme’s note pointed to an employee named Vinod Palicha, whom he had considered a close friend. He alleged that Palicha betrayed his trust by filing fake internal complaints against him to maliciously tarnish his professional reputation on the Hinjewadi IT campus. Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudhakar Yadav confirmed that an abetment to suicide case has been registered against the three named employees. While no arrests have been made yet, Yadav stated that authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into all technical and corporate aspects of the case.

In light of the tragedy, the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES)—a registered trade union for IT workers in Maharashtra—has appealed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to intervene. The union called for an urgent review of corporate safeguards to better identify employee distress and address workplace grievances before they escalate to tragedy.

NITES pointed out that this is the second chilling incident at the same company location in a short period, noting that 24-year-old TCS employee Sujal Vinod Oswal was found dead on the Hinjewadi campus in January. The union emphasized that two employee deaths linked to the same establishment within just a few months cannot be ignored or treated as isolated, routine occurrences.
