Pune Cake Artist Honored by Oxford University for Royal Icing Art

For Prachi Dhabal Deb, a talented cake artist based in the city, receiving honors feels like the perfect “icing on her achievements.” Recently, the prestigious Oxford University in the UK recognized her as a three-time World Record holder for her contributions to Royal Icing Art during the India Week 2024, making her the first cake artist to receive such an accolade. Additionally, the UK Parliament honored her as the foremost Royal Icing Artist.Born in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Deb grew up in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and completed her schooling in Kolkata.
For the past 13 to 14 years, she has made her home in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, which she affectionately refers to as her “karma bhoomi.” With a decade of experience in the industry, she shared, “I wanted to push boundaries for myself as an artist and inspire others. It is an honor to be recognized for my work in a field that I am so passionate about.
One of Deb’s most notable creations is a remarkable 100kg vegan edible royal icing structure inspired by the Milan Cathedral, which has been inducted into the World Book of Records in the UK. She also holds the record for the highest number of vegan royal icing structures created and crafted a stunning 200kg edible structure modeled after an Indian-inspired palace, all made with vegan royal icing. Deb’s journey is a testament to her dedication and creativity, further solidifying her place as a pioneer in the world of cake artistry.
