President’s Visit Postponed Due to Heavy Rain in Pune

The scheduled visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to Maharashtra from July 28 to 30 has been postponed. The Office of the President of India has also informed Symbiosis International University that, due to unavoidable circumstances, the acceptance of the invitation for the Convocation scheduled on July 29 has been postponed as well. The decision to postpone the visit and the Convocation ceremony comes in light of the incessant heavy rainfall in and around Pune, along with the release of water from dams. The Department of Disaster Management, Government of Maharashtra, has advised caution considering the prevailing situation.
In an official statement, Symbiosis International University expressed that the difficult decision to postpone the Convocation ceremony was made in the best interest of everyone involved. The safety and well-being of the students and their families are of utmost importance, especially considering the current situation and the forecasts indicating continued adverse conditions.The University assured the students that the celebration of their achievements would not be compromised due to the postponement. It stated that all preparations had been made for the 21st Convocation Ceremony, including the setup of a large pandal on the University Campus and other arrangements for the students’ comfortable visit.
The University acknowledged the significance of the Convocation as a milestone in the students’ academic journey and expressed understanding for any disappointment caused by the news. It assured the students that a later date would be planned for the Convocation Ceremony to properly celebrate their achievements.
The decision to postpone the President’s visit and the Convocation ceremony has been made with the students’ best interests in mind, considering the challenging weather conditions.
