Noel Tata, Ratan Tata’s Successor, Has Strong Ties to Pune:
Noel Tata has been appointed as the next Chairman of Tata Trusts, succeeding his half-brother, Ratan Tata, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 86. Following Ratan Tata’s demise, the board selected Noel Tata, 67, to lead Tata Trusts, which holds a significant 66 percent stake in Tata Sons, the parent company of the Tata Group.The decision was made during a board meeting on Friday, just three days after Ratan Tata’s passing. A formal announcement regarding this appointment is still pending.
Tata Trusts serves as an umbrella organization for several philanthropic initiatives focused on diverse fields such as art, culture, education, health, and livelihood generation. With its substantial stake in Tata Sons, Tata Trusts stands as the majority shareholder of the conglomerate.Interestingly, Noel Tata, who currently heads Trent Limited, the retail division of the Tata Group, has a notable connection to Pune. His son, Neville Tata, is married to Manasi Kirloskar, the daughter of the late Pune-based industrialist Vikram Kirloskar and Geetanjali Kirloskar.
Who is Manasi Kirloskar?
Manasi Kirloskar hails from the esteemed Kirloskar family, known for leading the Kirloskar Group, a company founded in 1888 by Laxmanrao Kirloskar, which is as historic as the Tata Group itself. Born on August 7, 1990, Manasi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States.In 2019, she married Neville Tata in a private ceremony at Ratan Tata’s home in Colaba, South Mumbai. The couple now shares two children, a boy and a girl, named Jamsetji Tata and Tiana Tata.
Following her father’s passing in 2023, Manasi was appointed as the new Vice Chairperson of Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts (TKAP) and Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM). Additionally, she holds chairperson roles at Toyota Engine India Limited (TIEI), Kirloskar Toyota Textile Private Limited (KTTM), Toyota Material Handling India Private Limited (TMHIN), and Deno Kirloskar Industries Private Limited (DNKI).
