Nagpur’s Kamptee Road Double-Decker Flyover Nears Final Stages of Completion

After seven long years of delays, the Kamptee Road double-decker flyover is finally nearing completion and is set to open for traffic soon. Initially designed to alleviate congestion in the area, the flyover is now raising concerns about its potential to exacerbate traffic issues between LIC Square and Samvidhan Square. This new flyover will become the third in the vicinity, joining the already congested Sadar-Mankapur- Katol Road flyover and the Ramjhula flyover.
Traffic experts are apprehensive that the close proximity of these three flyovers could lead to even greater traffic chaos along this busy route. The Sadar flyover, in particular, has been notorious for causing significant traffic jams, prompting traffic police to reroute vehicles through alternative roads. While the true impact of the Kamptee Road flyover on traffic patterns will only be evident once it opens, there are already signs of concern from commuters and city planners alike.
The existing flyovers have struggled to manage the high volume of vehicles, and adding another structure into the mix raises questions about the effectiveness of the planned congestion relief.Construction on the Kamptee Road flyover commenced seven years ago but was hindered by various delays, including a significant three-year halt. The project recently gained momentum after Maha Metro successfully acquired the necessary land at LIC Square, which was crucial for continuing the construction of the landing ramp.
The district administration approved the purchase of over 2,300 square meters of land, ultimately allowing the project to move into its final stages. As the opening date approaches, all eyes will be on the Kamptee Road double-decker flyover to see if it fulfills its intended purpose or further complicates the region’s traffic woes. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us.
