Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 4 Cracks Down on Gambling Racket: 16 Arrested, ₹5.35 Lakh Recovered
In a significant operation on December 4, 2024, officers from the Crime Branch Unit 4 successfully dismantled an illegal gambling racket. Acting on reliable intelligence, the police conducted a raid between 4:25 PM and 6:30 PM within the jurisdiction of the Wathoda Police Station. The illegal gambling activities were taking place in an open area behind Ayo Royal King in Khedi, where participants were engaged in bets related to rooster fighting.During the operation, law enforcement arrested 16 individuals involved in the illegal gambling activities.
A substantial amount of items was seized, including four roosters, four knives, and ₹10,900 in cash. Additionally, officials confiscated 17 mobile phones, five two-wheelers, and various other paraphernalia associated with the gambling operations. The total estimated value of the seized items was around ₹5,35,300.A case has been registered against the accused under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act at the Wathoda Police Station. The successful operation was executed under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singhal, alongside Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner Sanjay Patil, and Deputy Commissioner Rahul Makanikar.
The raid was spearheaded by PI Kamalakar Gaddime, with significant contributions from PSI Barange, Avinash Jaybhaye, Sunil Thawkar, Roshan Tiwari, Ajay Yadav, Purushottam Kalmegh, Nazir Shaikh, Nitin Verma, and other officers. Investigations are still ongoing as the police work to uncover further links to the gambling network. This operation underscores the police’s unwavering commitment to curbing illegal activities within the city, aiming to restore safety and compliance with the law.
