CID Arrests Ritika Maloo in Late-Night Operation for Ram Jhula Accident Case
Ritika Maloo, the primary accused in the Ram Jhula accident case, was arrested by the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) during a late-night operation on Thursday. She was taken into custody at her home in Deshpande Layout, Wardhaman Nagar. The arrest followed an unusual decision by the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) to open the courtroom at 10:30 pm, permitting Maloo’s arrest after sunset. This is typically not allowed for women under legal provisions, raising questions about the legitimacy of the arrest. Critics allege that the unconventional timing was strategically chosen to facilitate her bail application on Friday.
This development occurred mere hours after the sessions court revoked Maloo’s bail, 214 days after a tragic incident where her luxury Mercedes reportedly struck and killed two individuals on Ram Jhula. The case has drawn significant media attention due to its high-profile nature and the circumstances surrounding the accident. A dedicated team of ten CID officers, including two female personnel, executed the operation. Initially, the team entered one of the Maloo family’s homes but left empty-handed. They subsequently moved to another bungalow located in the same lane.
At approximately 1:45 am, the officers exited the residence with Maloo, who was seen seated between two women officers in a vehicle that promptly departed the scene. Maloo’s arrest marks a crucial step in the ongoing investigation into this high-profile accident case, as authorities seek to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the event. The incident underscores the complexities of legal proceedings in high-stakes situations and raises important questions regarding the justice system’s handling of such cases.
