Pune Police Freeze 10 Bank Accounts, Seize ₹38.26 Lakh Linked to Gangster Nilesh Ghaywal and Family

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Pune Police has taken stringent action against notorious gangster Nilesh Ghaywal and his family by freezing 10 bank accounts and seizing ₹38.26 lakh, officials confirmed on Wednesday. These accounts, tied to Ghaywal’s relatives and family members, span multiple banks and have now been blocked from any further transactions. Sources indicate that police are also preparing to scrutinize the bank accounts of Ghaywal’s close associates, trusted aides, and extended family.
Authorities revealed that investigations will soon extend to the properties, vehicles, and financial assets of other key members of Ghaywal’s gang as part of efforts to tighten the financial noose around the criminal network.Meanwhile, despite facing multiple serious criminal cases, Ghaywal has reportedly obtained a passport and visa to travel abroad.
“We have already issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) against Ghaywal and are investigating how he managed to get a passport despite having several criminal cases registered against him, mostly in Pune,” an official stated.Earlier this month, members of Ghaywal’s gang allegedly fired shots at a 36-year-old man and assaulted a teenager in Pune’s Kothrud area during a road rage incident.

Who is Nilesh Ghaywal?

Nilesh Ghaywal began as a close aide to gangster Gaja Marne in the early 2000s but later parted ways, sparking violent gang rivalries in Pune. He has been booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and detained under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug Offenders and Dangerous Persons Act (MPDA Act), according to police records.
