Pune Businessman Kidnapped and Murdered After Refusing Rs 2 Crore Ransom Demand

A 70-year-old businessman, identified as Vitthal Sakharam Polekar, was tragically kidnapped and murdered by local gangsters after he and his son refused to pay a ransom of Rs 2 crores, according to police reports. Polekar, a resident of Polekar Wadi near Sinhagad Fort, was a government contractor.The incident began when a gangster named Yogesh alias Babu Kisan Bhame, from Donje village, demanded the hefty ransom or a Jaguar SUV from Polekar and his son, Prashant. When they declined to meet the demands, the situation escalated.
On November 14, while out for a morning walk, Vitthal was allegedly abducted by Bhame and his associates from the “B B Boys” gang.Following his disappearance, Vitthal’s daughter, Sonali, filed a kidnapping complaint at the Haveli police station in Pune, expressing suspicions about Bhame’s involvement. The police quickly initiated a search for both Polekar and Bhame. During their investigation, they apprehended three suspects—one from Pune and two from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
After interrogating the suspects, police discovered dismembered body parts, believed to belong to Vitthal Polekar, in the backwaters of Khadakwasla dam at Osade village on Saturday morning. The remains have been sent for DNA testing, and authorities are still searching for an additional suspect linked to the crime.
