NMC’s Public Nuisance Squad Issues ₹47,800 in Fines Across 75 Cases of Littering and Plastic Use

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Public Nuisance Squad has intensified its crackdown on public urination, littering, spitting, and the use of thin plastic bags. On Wednesday alone, the squad documented 75 violations, accumulating a total of ₹47,800 in fines from offenders. Among the fines, one individual was penalized ₹200 for spitting in public areas. The squad noted 23 cases related to messes created around handcarts, stalls, and small shops, resulting in fines amounting to ₹9,200. Additionally, four individuals were fined ₹400 for littering in public spaces. Three shopkeepers faced a collective fine of ₹1,200 for improperly disposing of garbage on roads and sidewalks.
The squad also took action against a business, imposing a fine of ₹2,000 for improper waste disposal. Nine individuals were penalized ₹12,000 for obstructing roads with structures such as canopies. Further, one person received a ₹1,000 fine for tying animals in public areas, while another was fined ₹1,000 for washing vehicles or animals in a manner that created a mess.In total, the squad dealt with 14 additional cases of public nuisances, leading to fines of ₹2,800. There were also 18 cases related to institutional offenses, resulting in ₹18,000 in fines. The operation was spearheaded by Public Nuisance Squad Chief Veersen Tambe.
Additional Actions Taken
The squad also fined Café De Ola ₹5,000 for violating regulations in the Dharampeth Zone. Similarly, Hello, World Pre School in Dhantoli Zone faced a ₹5,000 fine for displaying unauthorized banners on electric poles. Abdul Najim in Nehru Nagar and Rupesh Kirana Store in Gandhibagh Zone were each fined ₹5,000 for using plastic bags.In a significant crackdown, Kudekja Cloth and Parathe Kirana Shop in Satranjipura Zone received fines of ₹10,000 each for similar offenses, while Hayat Medicos in Mangalwari Zone was penalized ₹10,000 for mixing medical waste with regular trash.
