New Nagpur Project Advances as NMRDA Begins Joint Measurement and Land Survey in Godhani and Ladgaon

The New Nagpur Project has entered a crucial phase with the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) initiating joint measurement record (JMR) and coordinated land surveys in the villages of Godhani (Rithi) and Ladgaon (Rithi) in Hingna taluka. This marks the first significant on-ground step toward developing the planned residential, commercial, and mixed-use zones outlined in the city’s expansion blueprint.Survey teams, consisting of revenue officials, NMRDA engineers, and landowners, have started verifying plot boundaries, reconciling land records, and conducting precise measurements.

Held in the presence of villagers, the JMR aims to eliminate discrepancies, enhance transparency, and reduce future disputes that often delay large-scale land acquisition projects.Officials noted that farmers owning nearly 1,480 acres across the two villages have already submitted consent letters, with other landowners expressing willingness to cooperate. A total of 1,710.11 acres has been designated for this development phase.

The measurement work is expected to be completed within a week, depending on field conditions, after which NMRDA will move forward with formal land acquisition and layout planning. The survey process also allows landholders to actively observe and participate in documentation, building trust between the administration and local communities.

The state government has approved a ₹3,000-crore loan guarantee for NMRDA to fund land acquisition for the proposed International Business and Finance Centre (IBFC), a flagship economic hub under the New Nagpur vision.Sachin Dhole, Joint Commissioner of NMRDA, stated, “The JMR exercise is not just a technical formality; it is our commitment to transparency and accountability. Following the guidance of the state’s political leadership, we are taking every step to protect landowners’ interests while ensuring timely progress of the New Nagpur project.”
