Nagpur Crime Branch Seizes Fake Apple Products Valued at ₹2.17 Crore

On December 24, 2024, the Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Squad conducted two significant raids in Nagpur, targeting the sale and storage of counterfeit Apple products. The operations, carried out in Dhantoli and Sitabuldi, uncovered a substantial stockpile of fake Apple mobile accessories valued at over ₹2.17 crore.

First Raid: Dhantoli

The first operation took place at NGM Mobiles, located near Dhanvate Chambers, following a complaint lodged by Apple India’s legal advocate, Mrunal Maheshchandra Agrawal. During this raid, the squad seized counterfeit Apple products worth ₹59.94 lakh. The accused, Naveen Ahmed Shakeel Ahmed, was arrested for illegally storing and selling these fake items. A case has been registered against him under Sections 420 of the IPC, and Sections 51 and 53 of the Copyright Act, as well as Sections 103 and 104 of the Trade Marks Act.

Second Raid: Sitabuldi

Later that evening, based on similar intelligence, the squad raided Rahul Market in Sitabuldi. They inspected eight shops, including Raj Mobiles, Nagnechi Telecom, Diya Mobiles, and Chamunda Mobiles, resulting in the seizure of counterfeit Apple products valued at ₹1.57 crore. Eight individuals were arrested during this operation:

  • Prajwal Jeevan Jarulkar
  • Sunil Raheja
  • Jeparram Dewaram Chaudhary
  • Rajubhai Chaudhary
  • Bhimram Virmaram Chaudhary
  • Babu Kumar

The seized items included accessories marked with counterfeit Apple logos and labels intended for sale. Similar legal actions were taken under the IPC, Copyright Act, and Trade Marks Act.The successful operations were conducted under the supervision of Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, and Deputy Commissioner Rahul Maknikar. Officers Gajanan Gulhane, Manoj Ghurde, Vijay Yadav, and others played crucial roles in these raids.This crackdown highlights the police’s commitment to protecting intellectual property rights and combating the distribution of counterfeit goods in Nagpur.
