MSRTC Adds 40 Extra Buses on Nagpur–Pune Route to Manage Diwali Rush

To accommodate the surge of passengers during the Diwali festivities, the Nagpur division of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has introduced 40 additional buses on the Nagpur–Pune route. This special service, which started Thursday, offers travelers an affordable alternative to private operators. While private bus operators are reportedly charging between ₹24,000 and ₹25,000, MSRTC fares remain more economical, ranging from ₹21,600 to ₹22,000.
Due to high demand, all the extra buses have already been fully booked for October 16, 17, and 18.Among these 40 special buses, seven are Shivshahi coaches, and the remainder are standard 40-seater vehicles. This enhanced service will continue until October 20. Normally, only two MSRTC buses run on this route, but the fleet has been significantly expanded to meet festive travel needs.
Moreover, following the Diwali school holidays, MSRTC plans to redeploy buses previously used for free transportation of female students. From October 19 to 30, these buses will operate on routes to Mahur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Rajura, and other destinations to further support passenger demand.
