Local Talent Tanvi Dhurve Selected for National Junior Water Polo Championship

Tanvi Dhurve, a rising star in the world of water polo, has been chosen to represent Maharashtra in the highly anticipated 50th National Junior Water Polo Championship, which is set to take place in Indore from July 7 to 11. Hailing from Nagpur, Tanvi has secured her place as the first junior water polo player from the city to join the state team, marking a significant milestone in her budding career. Currently a student of Class IX at Swaminarayan School, Tanvi showcased her exceptional skills during the state tournament held in Nashik. In an impressive display of talent, she scored a total of 13 goals across three matches. Notably, she netted six goals against Thane, five against Nashik, and two against Wardha, leaving a lasting impression on both her teammates and opponents.
To earn her spot in the Maharashtra team, Tanvi had to undergo a rigorous 12-day practice and trial camp at the Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal swimming pool in Amravati. Even within this competitive environment, Tanvi continued to shine, scoring three goals during the camp and solidifying her position in the team.Tanvi’s achievements in water polo run in the family, as her elder brother Sarthak has previously secured medals representing Maharashtra in the National School Water Polo Tournament in 2017-18 and 2018-19. This legacy of success and dedication to the sport further fuels Tanvi’s passion and determination to excel.
