Jio working with Nokia, others for affordable 4G mobile push: Senior executive

Reliance Jio is currently engaged with the feature phone makers including the brand Transsion’s Itel, Nokia and Lava to embark upon with some affordable Jio Bharat 4G devices, claimed the reports of the top company. The telco is now ready to bring out highly affordable phones which will cost you 999. This time the company plans to bring the phone at the said cost with additional features in its 4G phones. These include the TV streaming, WhatsApp and UPI payments. 

As per the company statement, they intend to establish their brand’s name in the market with this product keeping in mind for those who cannot afford smartphones due its high cost. So, keeping in mind the consumer base, the companies including Nokia or Lova and Itel would come together to embark with it. The statement was issued by its president of devices division Sunil Dutt. 

Talking to the media, he said they want to compete with the top brands including Blackberry and HP who were the ones who brought 2G technology in the market and created a good customer base. However, he pointed out that these devices are both expensive and prone to several malfunctions. Keeping in mind these flaws, the company is working on affordable cost smartphones. 

Dutt who is a device veteran gave an example of JiO of how they created a good customer base by pulling the cost down in the market and did well. The success of JIO’s feature phone was its affordability in the market. We have found the JIO Bharat phones coming up with special 4G monthly plans in the market. He added how the rival companies have no idea about this customer base and that they are now serious about exploring this market and reaching out to these consumers.
