Decision on Ritika Maloo’s Arrest Set for Today (July 25)

The courtroom proceedings surrounding the Ram Jhula hit-and-run accident case took a dramatic turn on Tuesday as the arguments drew to a close and Sessions Judge S.U. Hake reserved judgement. All eyes are now on the court, as it is set to deliver its decision on July 25 regarding the arrest of Ritika Maloo, the prime accused in the case. The prosecution has been vehemently advocating for Maloo’s immediate arrest, highlighting the gravity of the incident in which she allegedly drove a speeding Mercedes on the Ram Jhula Bridge, leading to the tragic deaths of two young individuals.
They argue that the severity of the case warrants her detention without delay. However, defence counsel Chandrasekhar Jaltare raised questions about the legality of the arrest pursuit. He referred to a previous ruling by a First Class Magistrate Court that declared the arrest attempts as unlawful, thereby challenging the prosecution’s stance.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Rashmi Khaparde, representing the prosecution, presented her argument for Maloo’s arrest through two revision applications filed in the sessions court. Judge Hake carefully listened to the arguments put forth by both sides but decided to reserve the judgement, indicating that a final decision will be announced on Thursday. The anticipation surrounding this case has gripped both the legal fraternity and the public.
The outcome of the court’s decision will undoubtedly have significant implications for the parties involved and will shape the course of justice in this high-profile hit-and-run accident case. All eyes now turn to Thursday, when the fate of Ritika Maloo will be determined.
