Pune Records Season’s Lowest Temperature at 10°C

On Tuesday morning, Pune experienced its lowest minimum temperature of the season, dropping to 10.8 degrees Celsius, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This significant dip follows Monday’s recorded low of 12.1 degrees Celsius. The IMD attributed this drop in temperature to the influence of north and north-western winds, coupled with clear sky conditions that have accelerated the cooling of the earth’s surface. These weather patterns have contributed to a noticeable chill in the air, particularly during the night. In addition to Shivajinagar, other areas in the district also reported low temperatures.
The weather station at the National Defence Academy (NDA) recorded 9.6 degrees Celsius, while Haveli reported 9.5 degrees Celsius. In contrast, regions such as Hadapsar, Magarpatta, and Chinchwad experienced slightly warmer temperatures, ranging from 11 to 14 degrees Celsius. The IMD has indicated that the current cool temperatures in Pune are expected to persist over the next few days. While daytime temperatures remain relatively high, the rapid cooling at night has led to a significant chill factor, making evenings particularly brisk. As winter approaches, residents are advised to prepare for the colder nights ahead.
The IMD’s forecasts suggest that the combination of clear skies and northern winds will continue to influence the weather, potentially leading to further drops in temperature. This seasonal shift is a reminder of the changing climate as Pune transitions into the winter months, bringing with it the need for warmer clothing and heating solutions for homes. Overall, the recent temperature trends highlight the dynamic nature of Pune’s weather as it adapts to the seasonal changes.
