Woman Files Police Complaint Against Ruling Party MLA Siddharth Shirole

A woman has lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that her photograph was used without her consent on a banner promoting the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana (Chief Minister Dear Sister Scheme). The complainant met with Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma to present her case. Following her allegations, Sharma has initiated an investigation into the matter. This incident follows a troubling occurrence in which a photo of a missing person was used in a press release regarding the Jyeshtha Nagrik Tirth Yatra Yojana, aimed at senior citizens.
The recent complaint pertains to BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole, who has been erecting several banners in his Shivajinagar Assembly Constituency. These banners prominently feature images of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, and Shirole himself. One such banner, titled ‘Natyacha Maan, Mai-Bhaginicha Sanman’ (Respecting the relationship, honouring the sister), includes photographs of two women, one of whom is the complainant. The woman alleges that her image was displayed without her permission and claims that the unauthorized use of her photo has led to misunderstandings and disputes within her family. In her written complaint, she stated that Shirole’s actions are improper and constitute a bogus act that has adversely affected her personal life.
Joint Commissioner Sharma has taken the matter seriously and has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-Crime) to conduct a thorough investigation into the complaint. As more of these banners appear throughout the Shivajinagar area, the implications of using individuals’ images without consent are raising concerns about privacy and the ethical responsibilities of public figures in their promotional activities. The outcome of the investigation remains to be seen as the case unfolds.
