Undri Residents Demand PMC Action as Debris Blocks Narrow Roads

Weeks after the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a demolition drive, debris remains uncleared near Palace Orchard Chowk in Undri, causing significant inconvenience for local residents. The unattended rubble has exacerbated existing issues, with narrow roads and frequent traffic congestion already plaguing the area. The demolition aimed to remove encroachments and improve traffic flow; however, the leftover debris has only intensified the problem. Residents express frustration, noting that the current roads are too narrow to accommodate the increasing vehicular traffic, and the unremoved rubble further restricts available space, complicating daily commutes.
Local residents are now calling on the PMC to take immediate action. Their demands include not only the removal of the debris but also the widening of the road stretch from Gagan Ela to Marvel Sangria. Additionally, they request that the civic body acquire and resurface the land near Palace Orchard Chowk to facilitate better accessibility and alleviate traffic congestion. One frustrated resident remarked, “The roads in this area were already in poor condition, and now, with the rubble left behind, it’s become even more difficult to navigate.
PMC needs to complete the job they started.”It has been nearly a year since the PMC cleared the area near Palace Orchard by removing a builder’s office, yet no further actions have been taken to address the remaining space. With at least four major schools situated along this road, the volume of vehicles passing through is significantly high.Despite numerous complaints from residents, no action has been taken to clear the debris, raising concerns about the efficiency of the civic administration. Residents are now advocating for prompt measures not only to clean up the area but also to implement long-term solutions to the ongoing traffic challenges in their neighborhood.
