Three-Day Dhamma Deeksha Event Kicks Off Today at Deekshabhoomi

The Dhamma Deeksha program, part of the 68th Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebrations, is set to commence at Deekshabhoomi on Thursday at 9:30 am. During this event, Deeksha will be conferred upon the Bhikkhu Sangh, ‘upasak’, and ‘shramner’. The program will span three days, culminating in the awarding of certificates to participants.The main event will be hosted by the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti on Saturday at 6 pm, featuring Bhadant A. A. B. Dnyaneshwar, the President of the Bhikkhu Sangh from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, as the chief guest. Akash Lamba, promoter of the Mahabodhi Mahavihar Mukti Andolan, will serve as the guest of honor, alongside Adv. Shailendra Narnaware, who is representing the case for acquiring additional land for Deekshabhoomi in the High Court. Prominent representatives from various Bhikkhu Sanghs will also be in attendance. Additionally, Bhante Dnyaneshwar, a disciple of Mahasthwir Chandramani—who administered deeksha to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar—will be present, as noted by Arya Nagarjun Surei Sasai, president of the samiti.
On October 11, Bhadant Sasai will hoist the Panchsheel flag at 9 am, accompanied by members of the Samata Sainik Dal. Later that evening, a program featuring Buddh and Bhim songs will take place at 6 pm, followed by dance and drama performances of “Angulimaal” and “Agrapali.” On October 12, Bhadant Sasai will participate in a mass Buddh Vandana at 9 am.In commemoration of the day Dr. Ambedkar took deeksha from Mahasthwir Chandramani on October 14, 1956, a Buddha Vandana will be held on October 14 at 9 am at Deekshabhoomi, with Bhadant Sasai in attendance. The samiti has also encouraged Buddhists to organize Buddha Vandana programs in Buddhist Vihars throughout the city at the same time.

Dr. Itankar Reviews Arrangements

District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar conducted an inspection of the arrangements for the 68th Dhammachakra Pravartan Din program at Deekshabhoomi. He was joined by Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, Deputy Commissioners of Police Dr. Vijay Rathod, Lohit Matani, Archit Chandak, Resident Deputy Collector Anoop Khande, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Milind Meshram, and other officials. Dr. Itankar reviewed the preparations at Deekshabhoomi and provided specific instructions to the team.Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli discussed various logistical arrangements with Dr. Itankar, including the setup of the main stage, barricades, sanitation facilities, health services, security cameras, and police deployment.
