Shivjayanti 2025: Road Closures, Route Changes & PMPML Diversions in Pune

In anticipation of the Shiv Jayanti celebrations, which commemorate the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Pune City Traffic Police have announced significant traffic diversions and road closures for Wednesday. These measures aim to ensure public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow during the event.To facilitate the movement of processions honoring Shiv Jayanti, several key roads and intersections in central Pune will be temporarily closed. The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will operate buses on alternative routes to minimize disruptions to public transportation. Commuters are encouraged to heed the instructions of traffic personnel and plan their travel accordingly.
The traffic diversions will commence at 6 AM on Wednesday and remain in effect until the conclusion of the processions on Shivaji RoadBajirao RoadLaxmi Road, and Nehru Road. Emergency service vehicles will be exempt from these diversions, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Amol Zende.Key traffic redirection points include the following:
  • Nehru Road, Laxmi Road, Shivaji Road, and Bajirao Road will be rerouted from 7 AM until the end of the processions.
  • Traffic from Jijamata Chowk to Swargate via Shivaji Road will be diverted through SG Barwe ChowkJangali Maharaj RoadKhandojiaba Chowk, and Tilak Road after the Jai Bharat, Jai Shivaji Padyatra.
  • Traffic from Ganesh Road to Phadke Huad will be redirected via Daruwala Bridge.

Parking facilities will be provided at Sangamwadi ParkingFC GroundNadipatra Parking, and Agri College Ground. Additionally, traffic changes will also be implemented for the ‘Jai Shivaji – Jai Bharat’ padyatra, scheduled from 7 AM to 2 PM, affecting traffic on FC Road and JM Road due to the procession’s route.Drivers and commuters are advised to remain vigilant and adjust their travel plans accordingly to avoid delays.
