Pune Techie Tragically Dies After Fall from 30-Foot Zipline Tower

A 28-year-old IT professional, Taral Arun Atpalkar, tragically lost her life after falling from an approximately 30-foot zipline launch tower at an adventure park in Bhor taluka, Pune district. The incident occurred while she was preparing to embark on the zipline ride, prompting police to investigate potential negligence by the park’s management and safety personnel.According to officials from the Rajgad police station, the accident took place at Rajgad Water Park Resort in Varve village, located about 30 km from Pune, around 5:50 PM on Friday.
Taral, a resident of Dhayari in Pune, had visited the adventure park with relatives that afternoon.A case of accidental death was registered at the Rajgad police station on Saturday, following information provided by her uncle, Nandkishor Atpalkar, aged 50. Ganesh Biradar, Additional Superintendent of Police for Pune rural, stated, “Initial reports indicate that Atpalkar was preparing to start the zipline ride when the harness rope proved inadequate in length. She attempted to sit on a stool, lost her balance, and fell approximately 30 feet, sustaining fatal injuries.”
Authorities have initiated a probe to determine if there was any negligence on the part of the park’s management and safety staff. Based on the investigation’s findings, appropriate legal action will be taken. Assistant Inspector Tukaram Rathod of the Rajgad police station noted, “The deceased worked as an IT professional. We will be recording the statements of her family members and other witnesses as part of the investigation.”This tragic incident has raised concerns about safety measures at adventure parks, highlighting the need for stringent protocols to ensure the well-being of visitors.
