Pune: Public Urination Dispute Turns Violent, Accused Arrested
A shocking incident occurred in Loni Kalbhor, Pune district, where a dispute over open urination escalated into violence, resulting in physical assault and gunfire. The altercation took place near Jai Malhar Hotel around 8 PM on Friday.The accused have been identified as Bhanudas Shelar, Ajay Mundhe, and Satish alias Nana Mundhe, all of whom have been detained by the police.
The Incident
According to police reports, a group of four to five men traveling in a car stopped near the hotel to urinate in an open plot. Akshay Sahabrao Chavan, a local watchman, confronted them, asking them not to urinate in the area as he was present with his wife, Sheetal Chavan.What began as a verbal argument quickly turned violent, with the accused allegedly assaulting Akshay and Sheetal using their hands and stones, resulting in injuries to both. In a further escalation, Ajay Mundhe fired a gunshot into the air to instill fear in the vicinity before fleeing the scene.
Police Response
Rajendra Karankat, Senior Police Inspector of the Loni Kalbhor police station, stated, “We have detained the accused and seized an unlicensed pistol from them. They were en route to Moshi when they stopped the car to urinate,” he explained.Inspector Karankat confirmed that the condition of the injured victims is stable and added, “The source of the unlicensed pistol remains unknown. We are interrogating the accused and will soon trace the link to the illegal arms source.”A case has been registered at the Loni Kalbhor police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigations are ongoing to address the incident and its implications.
