PM Modi’s Rally in Pune: Police Impose Ban on Drones and Aerial Gadgets for Security

The Pune city police have implemented a ban on the use of various aerial devices, including drones, paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, hot air balloons, and micro light aircraft, in light of the upcoming rally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 12. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety and security of the event, which is scheduled to take place at the S P College ground. The rally is part of the Prime Minister’s campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates and their alliance partners within the ‘Mahayuti’ coalition, who are competing in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma issued a formal order announcing the restrictions. The order specifies that the mentioned aerial devices are prohibited within the jurisdiction of the Pune city police until the conclusion of the rally. The measure is designed to prevent any potential incidents that could disrupt the Prime Minister’s visit and the associated political activities.
However, the order does allow for the use of aerial surveillance equipment by police forces, ensuring that law enforcement can monitor the situation effectively from the air. The police have made it clear that they will take strict action against anyone who violates this ban, invoking Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) to enforce compliance.
As the date of the rally approaches, the city police are prepared to maintain a secure environment for both the attendees and the Prime Minister. The decision reflects the authorities’ commitment to public safety during significant political events, which often draw large crowds and heightened security concerns.
