Pimpri-Chinchwad Launches 2,570 AI-Powered CCTV Cameras to Enhance Public Safety and Traffic Control

A comprehensive network of 2,570 AI-powered CCTV cameras has been officially launched in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, with the primary goal of enhancing public safety and bolstering law enforcement efforts. These cameras have been strategically installed at critical junctions, high-incident areas, and locations with significant pedestrian traffic, making this surveillance network an essential tool for local authorities.
This initiative is being executed by a private limited company in collaboration with the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Monitoring will be centralized at the Integrated Command & Control Center (ICCC) located in Nigdi, where the Volksara team will manage the extensive surveillance operations.The cameras are spread across 606 locations, including prominent sites such as Sant Nagar junctionVasudev Balwant Phadke junction, and Savitribai Phule Udyan, as well as near critical infrastructure like hospitals and schools. They are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including Fixed Box cameras, ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition), and PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) systems, which allow for continuous operation and real-time data analysis.
Since the launch of the pilot program, this surveillance network has processed over 310 incidents, helping local police resolve more than 30 cases efficiently. Furthermore, traffic enforcement has significantly improved, with officers issuing an average of 6,000 to 7,000 e-challans monthly for traffic violations.Looking to the future, the camera company plans to expand this initiative by installing an additional 730 AI CCTV cameras, which will increase the network’s coverage to 925 locations.
