Over 100 Students Hospitalized Following Food Poisoning at Chandrapur ZP School

In a suspected case of food poisoning, 106 students from the Zilla Parishad School in Pardi villageSaoli tehsil, were hospitalized on Friday. The affected students were admitted to various hospitals in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli after experiencing symptoms such as fever and vomiting.Sudhir Mungantiwar, a senior BJP leader and MLA, has directed the administration to ensure the best possible treatment for the affected students and has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.The Zilla Parishad School in Pardi has a capacity of 133 students, with 126 present on December 4 when the incident occurred. Reports indicate that the students were served a meal in the afternoon.
That night, many began to experience fever and vomiting. Initially, parents attributed the symptoms to a viral fever and did not raise any alarms. However, when symptoms persisted the following day, students continued to vomit upon arriving at school.Dr. Mahadeo Chinchole, the Civil Surgeon who visited the Rural Hospital in Saoli, provided insights into the situation: “Some students were admitted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Rural Hospital nearly 18 hours after consuming the meal.Currently, 62 students are being treated at the sub-district hospital in Mul tehsil20 at the Gadchiroli district hospital17 in Saoli, with the remaining students at Chandrapur Government Medical College and Hospital.
Dr. Chinchole confirmed that all students are in stable condition and remain under observation.A team of doctors and officials from the Food and Drugs Administration has collected food samples for laboratory testing. An investigation committee has been appointed, comprising the Additional CEOEducation OfficerAdditional District Health Officer of Zilla Parishad, and the Block Development Officer, to investigate the matter.Authorities have assured that swift action will be taken once the test results and investigation findings are available, emphasizing their commitment to the health and safety of the students.
