Night Raid Under ‘Operation Thunder’ Leads to Arrest of Ganja Peddler; Contraband Worth Rs 97,100 Seized

In a major crackdown as part of “Operation Thunder – Let’s Unite for a Drug-Free Society,” Lakadganj police apprehended a man caught allegedly selling ganja from an e-rickshaw in the city. The operation was based on precise intelligence and was conducted during the late-night hours on January 3.

While talking about it, it was during the time duration between 1:20 am and 4:15 am, police set up a trap near Amardeep Talkies, where they intercepted an e-rickshaw with registration number MH-49 BM 9931. The occupant was identified as 42-year-old Firoz Munna Khan, a resident of Vajpayee Nagar near Buddha Vihar, Kalamna.A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered 1.851 kilograms of ganja concealed inside a school bag placed beneath the driver’s seat.

At the same time, police seized a mobile phone and the e-rickshaw used to transport the narcotics. The total estimated value of the recovered contraband is Rs 97,100.Firoz Munna Khan has been arrested and charged under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Lakadganj police station.

Authorities have confirmed that further investigations are underway to trace the source of the narcotics and dismantle the distribution network involved.This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and maintain a drug-free society.
