Names of These Three Metro Stations in Pune City to Be Changed
The Pune Metro is set to undergo a significant change as the names of three of its stations are slated for modification. Recently, there has been a surge of objections concerning the names of certain metro stations, prompting calls for their renaming. In response to these concerns, Pune MP and Union Minister of State Muralidhar Mohol announced that the names of three metro stations in Pune will indeed be changed. A formal proposal regarding this matter has already been submitted to the Central Government, and the necessary processes have been completed, with an official gazette expected to be released soon.
The affected stations include Mangalwar Peth, Budhwar Peth, and Nashik Phata. Budhwar Peth station will be renamed as Kasba Peth Metro Station, while Mangalwar Peth will be designated as RTO Metro Station. Additionally, Nashik Phata Metro Station will now be known as Kasarwadi Metro Station. Furthermore, the Central Government has approved the renaming of the ‘Civil Court Station’ to ‘Shivajinagar District Court Metro Station.’Minister Muralidhar Mohol recently conducted an inspection of the Swargate Metro Station, where he shared that the station would soon be opened for public use.
He emphasized the urgency of completing the inauguration of the Swargate to Katraj route, assuring that it would be finalized at the earliest opportunity.These changes reflect the city’s responsiveness to public sentiment and demonstrate a commitment to ensuring that the Pune Metro system aligns more closely with the community’s identity and preferences. As the new names are rolled out, it is expected that they will enhance the commuting experience for residents and visitors alike.
