Nagpur South-West Sees 54.49% Voter Turnout, a 4% Increase from 2019

The Nagpur South-West Assembly constituency experienced a notable voter turnout of 54.49% on Wednesday, reflecting a 4% increase from the 2019 elections. The final figures are still being compiled by the district administration. This election marked a significant rise in voter participation compared to previous years. In 2014, the turnout was 56.4%, which fell to 50.5% in 2019. The increase this year indicates a growing engagement among voters in the region.
Polling commenced at 7 AM, with an initial turnout of 8.92% by 9 AM. This figure steadily climbed to 19.91% by 11 AM, reaching 31.12% by 1 PM, and 41.76% by 3 PM. By 5 PM, the turnout had surged to 51.54%, showcasing a consistent voting trend throughout the day.Strong participation was particularly evident in localities such as Jaitala, Subhash Nagar, HB Estate, Sahakar Nagar, and Khamla. The polling process was conducted smoothly, with no major incidents reported. Although some voters encountered issues with missing names on the electoral roll, polling officers were quick to assist them, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to cast their votes.
The election featured a direct contest between Congress’ Praful Gudadhe and BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, contributing to the overall positive trend in voter engagement within the Nagpur district. This increased turnout not only highlights the importance of civic participation but also reflects the constituency’s commitment to democratic processes. As the final results are awaited, the enthusiasm shown by voters bodes well for the future of electoral participation in the region.
