Nagpur Railway Station Redevelopment Reaches Key Milestone

The Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has achieved a significant milestone in the ongoing redevelopment of Nagpur railway station. This recent progress marks the advancement of the West Wing-3 basement parking facility, a vital component of the station’s modernization initiative aimed at enhancing commuter convenience and alleviating surface congestion.
The redevelopment project is being executed in two phases. Phase I, which covers 1,800 square meters, was completed and handed over in September 2024. This phase currently operates as a surface-level parking area, while the associated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting (MEPF) systems, along with interior finishing, are actively underway.
Phase II, encompassing an additional 1,620 square meters, has also seen substantial progress. Both excavation and foundation work for this phase have been completed, with 90% of the basement slab already cast. Shuttering work for the remaining 10% is currently ongoing. Once finished, this phase is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion around the station by providing a modern and spacious parking facility for commuters.
Aman Mittal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (SrDCM), commented on the development, stating, “This project reaffirms our commitment to building smart, efficient, and passenger-focused infrastructure, positioning Nagpur as a future-ready railway hub.”
The station redevelopment project aligns with Indian Railways’ broader vision of creating world-class, commuter-friendly transportation infrastructure across the country. With continued advancements, Nagpur railway station is set to enhance its role as a critical transit point, benefiting both local residents and travelers alike.
