Under the directive of Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, efforts to remove encroachments and enhance cleanliness in the Seminary Hills area have significantly intensified. On Tuesday, October 22, Dr. Chaudhary conducted a personal inspection, assessing the progress of encroachment removal from Seminary Hills to Ambazari T-Point. Accompanying him during the inspection were Deputy Commissioner Prakash Varade, Solid Waste Management Director Dr. Gajendra Mahalle, and Zonal Sanitation Officer Deendayal Tembhekar, along with other municipal personnel.
Dr. Chaudhary closely examined the status of key locations, including TV Tower Square, CGO Complex Square, LAD College Square, and Air Force Nagar Square, urging residents to take the initiative in voluntarily clearing encroachments along the roads. His visit prompted a swift response, with many citizens seen actively removing encroachments by the following day.In addition to addressing encroachments, the Commissioner evaluated cleanliness initiatives from Futala Lake to Ambazari T-Point. He expressed his contentment with the progress made and stressed the necessity of maintaining consistent cleanliness in these areas.
At Birsa Munda Square near Futala Lake, Dr. Chaudhary identified a garbage problem, noting that residents were discarding waste along the roadside. He instructed the IEC team to initiate an awareness campaign, encouraging community members to utilize municipal garbage trucks for waste disposal. For locations where garbage trucks cannot easily reach, he proposed the placement of large bins along the roadside to facilitate proper waste collection. The Commissioner also visited the waste transfer station in the Dharampeth Zone on Ambazari Road.
During this visit, he received complaints about external vehicles illegally dumping construction debris near the station. In response, Dr. Chaudhary ordered the installation of iron mesh around the area to prevent any unsightly littering near the station.
