Nagpur Customs Destroys 1,340.7 kg of Drugs Valued at Rs 19.7 Crore

In a firm stance against drug trafficking, the Nagpur Customs recently conducted the burning of 1,340.7 kg of drugs valued at Rs 19.7 crore in Butibori, Nagpur. This significant operation included the destruction of 1.7 kg of cocaine, which had been seized by the Air Intelligence Unit, and 1,339 kg of ganja, seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Nagpur.

The process was carried out under the supervision of Sanjay Kumar, the Commissioner of Customs, along with the presence of Peeyoush Bhati, Chairman of the Drug Disposal Committee, and other officials. The burning of the drugs was executed in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the NDPS Act of 1985 and the Disposal Manual of 2019, ensuring compliance with environmental laws.

This action by the Nagpur Customs aligns with the Union Government’s Zero Tolerance Policy against drugs. By destroying such a substantial quantity of illegal substances, the authorities aim to send a resolute message to drug smugglers and reinforce the severity of the consequences they will face.
