Gittikhadan Police Leads the Way in Digital Crime Record Management

After the success of its widely appreciated ‘One Tree, One Cop’ initiative, the Gittikhadan police station has set another milestone by becoming the first in Nagpur to implement a digital crime record management system. The station has digitized and reorganized 25 years of crime records, enabling quick access to critical data in under five minutes, marking a significant step forward in operational efficiency.Under the leadership of Police Inspector (PI) Kailash Deshmane, crime records spanning from 2001 to 2025 were systematically reorganized within just two weeks.
These records have been meticulously categorized into “A” and “B” sections and securely stored in specially designed, durable bags. Each bag has been assigned a unique serial number (1 to 150) for better organization and retrieval.“To enhance accessibility, we created an Excel sheet cataloging the contents of each bag. This allows personnel to retrieve case or administrative files quickly, significantly improving operational efficiency,” explained PI Deshmane. The newly designed storage bags, built under police supervision, are not only more durable but also more visually appealing than traditional storage boxes.
“This design ensures the long-term preservation of sensitive records while simplifying administrative tasks,” Deshmane added. In addition to improving efficiency, the revamped system has also freed up considerable space in the crime room, creating a cleaner and more organized workspace for police personnel.Senior officials, including Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Rahul Madane, praised the effort, emphasizing the role of meticulous record-keeping in enhancing accountability and effectiveness.Building on its innovative ‘One Tree, One Cop’ initiative, Gittikhadan police station continues to set new benchmarks in crime record management and environmental awareness, serving as an exemplary model for other stations in the region.
