Four Killed as Mini Bus Catches Fire in Pune’s Hinjewadi

Four individuals lost their lives, and five others sustained burn injuries after a mini bus caught fire in Pune’s Hinjewadi area, according to police reports. The incident occurred around 7:30 AM on Wednesday while employees of a private firm were en route to work.“The employees had just left home and were heading to the office when a fire erupted in the driver’s cabin. Some employees were unable to exit through the front door, and the rear door failed to open, leading to the fatalities,” stated Kanhaiya Thorat, senior police inspector at Hinjewadi police station.
A fire brigade official from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation noted that the fire spread rapidly, making it impossible for those who escaped to rescue their trapped colleagues. Fortunately, the fire was eventually extinguished. Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as people attempted to help their coworkers, but the flames spread too quickly for effective intervention.Police reported that the five injured individuals were transported to Ruby Hall Clinic, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Their condition is stable, and medical staff are monitoring them closely for any complications.“The police and fire brigade officials are working to determine the cause of the fire,” added Thorat. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are expected to review safety protocols regarding the transportation of employees to prevent such tragedies in the future.
