Fire Breaks Out at Sassoon Hospital, No Casualties Reported
A fire broke out on Sunday morning at a ward in Sassoon General Hospital. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the incident. The Pune Fire Brigade’s control room received a distress call around 8 am, prompting a swift response from the fire brigade team. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a room in the radiology department, specifically ward number 2, was engulfed in flames. The hospital staff immediately sprang into action, utilizing fire extinguishers to combat the fire. As a precautionary measure, patients were swiftly transferred to neighboring wards.
Thanks to the prompt response and efforts of the firemen, the situation was brought under control in a short span of time. However, the fire resulted in damage to various items within the room, including a computer, printer, chair, fan, and router.Based on initial observations, fire brigade officials suspect that an electric short circuit may have been the cause of the fire. Further investigations will be conducted to determine the exact cause and prevent future incidents.
