Pune Airport Records 10.6% Increase in Footfall Compared to Last Year

Pune Airport has marked a notable achievement by welcoming 10.54 million passengers during the 2024-25 fiscal year, reflecting a 10.6% increase from the previous year’s total of 9.52 million travelers. December 2024 stood out as the peak month, with the airport recording its highest passenger volume of the year at 954,000 travelers.“This rise in passenger movement highlights the airport’s success in enhancing regional connectivity and attracting international travelers. The steady growth in international passenger traffic further underscores this trend,” stated Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke.
He noted that the expansion has been supported by the introduction of new flights, particularly during the busy holiday season in November and December.Pune Airport has significantly bolstered its flight network by adding several new international and domestic routes. Notable international destinations now include Dubai and Bangkok.
Domestically, the airport has expanded its network with new flights to ChennaiIndoreAhmedabad, and Dehradun, increasing frequency and providing greater travel flexibility. This expansion has brought the total number of domestic connections to 35 destinations, demonstrating the airport’s commitment to meeting the evolving travel needs of the region.According to information from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), aircraft movements at Pune Airport have also experienced considerable growth.
In FY 2024-2025, the airport recorded 68,557 aircraft movements, reflecting a 7.05% increase from the previous year.Central to this growth is the newly inaugurated New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB), which opened in July 2024. With a built-up area exceeding 52,000 square meters, the NITB enhances operational capacity and improves the passenger experience. Designed to accommodate up to 9 million passengers annually, the terminal features 34 check-in counters and 25 self-check-in kiosks, significantly streamlining airport operations.
