Dry Days Declared in Nagpur District for Legislative Council Elections

The Nagpur district administration has officially issued a dry day order across the district for October 21–23 and October 27, 2026. The temporary ban on liquor sales has been enacted ahead of the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections to maintain public order and ensure a fair, peaceful voting process.
Dry Day Schedule & Timings
The administrative order, issued on October 16, specifies a complete shutdown of sales during the critical polling and vote-counting windows:
Polling Period (Oct 21–23): All licensed establishments must suspend liquor sales starting from 4:00 PM on October 21 until 4:00 PM on October 23. This aligns with the mandated 48-hour quiet period before voting concludes on October 23 (polling hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM).
Counting Day (Oct 27): A complete ban will be enforced on October 27, remaining in effect throughout the day until the official counting process comes to an end.
Strict Enforcement & Legal Penalties
The restrictions apply universally to all authorized liquor vendors across Nagpur district, including country liquor shops, foreign liquor outlets, wine and beer shops, permit rooms, and bars.
District authorities have issued a stern warning to license holders against any violations during the restricted periods. Non-compliance will attract strict legal action under applicable state laws and relevant sections of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The dry day measures aim to prevent electoral disruptions, safeguard law and order, and guarantee that the democratic process proceeds smoothly across the Nagpur Division. Stay tuned to know more about it only with us and if you h ave anything to share do comment below and share your thoughts.
