To promote mental well-being and work-life balance, medical professionals in Nagpur have launched a unique musical initiative — the DON Band (Doctors of Nagpur), blending healthcare with harmony.
This inspiring concept was brought to life by two accomplished doctors: Dr. Suresh Iyer, a renowned pathologist and winner of the Global Voice of Doctors, and Dr. Nishikant Lokhande, a respected radiologist and the contest’s runner-up. They teamed up with fellow doctors who share a passion for music to create a platform where the worlds of medicine and melody beautifully intersect.
The DON Band made a memorable debut at the IMA Nagpur Hall, showcasing captivating solo and duet performances from doctors across various specialties. The concert included themed musical segments such as Lost Legends, Awesome Ajay-Atul, Sufiyana, Nostalgic 90s, Fast Numbers, and vibrant medleys — all of which were met with enthusiastic applause. The performing doctors featured Dr. Nishikant Lokhande, Dr. Suresh Iyer, Dr. Aishwarya Rewatkar, Dr. Samir Jahagirdar, Dr. Prachi Sancheti, Dr. Vinit Niranjane, Dr. Nekee Rajdeo, Dr. Yogesh Bang, Dr. Riju Chimote, Dr. Pratik Padole, Dr. Juhi Joshi, and Dr. Amee Rahatekar.
The show was expertly hosted by Dr. Anuradha Ridhorkar and Dr. Akshay Kriplani, who ensured the audience remained entertained throughout. The musical arrangements were thoughtfully crafted by renowned Nagpur musician Parimal Joshi, while Ajay skillfully managed the sound system. Special thanks were extended to Dr. Rajesh Sawarbandhe, President of the Indian Medical Association, Nagpur, and Dr. Jitendra Sahu for their support in organizing the event.
The program received overwhelming appreciation from doctors, esteemed guests, and music lovers across Nagpur. With backing from Pulse Clinic and Hospital, Nova Clinic, Spectrum Diagnostics, and Sun Pathology, the event was a resounding success. Encouraged by this achievement, the DON Band is now planning more professional concerts in Nagpur and surrounding areas in the near future.
