Pune Heatwave Intensifies! Temperature Set to Rise – 4-Day Weather Forecast Inside

Pune and its surrounding areas are currently experiencing a heatwave-like situation, with temperatures exceeding 40°C and little relief expected in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that maximum temperatures in the city will remain between 40°C and 42°C until April 22, with a slight dip anticipated afterward.Since the second week of April, temperatures have steadily increased, with intense daytime heat raising both maximum and minimum readings.
On Wednesday, Shivajinagar recorded a high of 41.2°C, while Koregaon Park and Magarpatta reached 40.8°C. Other areas also reported elevated temperatures, including Hadapsar at 40.2°C, Chinchwad at 39.1°C, and NDA at 38.9°C. On Thursday, while temperatures remained high, there was a slight decline: Shivajinagar and Koregaon Park both recorded 40.1°C, with Hadapsar at 39.9°C and Chinchwad at 38.6°C.Dr. Sudip Kumar, a senior meteorologist at IMD, indicated that hot and humid conditions will persist in the coming days. “Temperatures will remain in the 40°C to 42°C range until April 22. Following this, increased moisture in the atmosphere may lead to cloud formation and a slight drop in temperatures,” he noted.
The rise in temperatures is attributed to hot winds from northern India. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation approximately 1.5 kilometers above sea level over northwest Rajasthan is influencing the broader weather pattern. This has resulted in a low-pressure belt extending from northwest India down through Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to the Gulf of Mannar, potentially enhancing cloud development and isolated rainfall later in the week.Residents are advised to take precautions against heat-related illnesses, stay hydrated, and avoid direct sun exposure during peak afternoon hours.
