Unseasonal rains accompanied by strong winds struck Nagpur in the early hours of Wednesday, causing significant disruptions to the city’s power distribution network. Fortunately, Mahavitaran acted promptly, restoring electricity in most affected areas within just a few hours. The heavy rainfall began around 1:30 AM and led to power outages in various localities, including Parvati Nagar, Rameshwari, Abhay Nagar, Besa, Manewada, Rambagh, Mahal, Sakkardara, New Subhedar, Janki Nagar, Bhagwan Nagar, Umred Road, Sutgirni, Wathoda, Bagadganj, Shri Krishna Nagar, Wadi, Trimurti Nagar, Chhatrapati Nagar, Somalwada, and Manish Nagar.
The storm caused multiple transformers to malfunction, tree branches to fall onto power lines, and electric poles to bend or collapse, resulting in widespread outages. Despite these challenges, Mahavitaran’s field teams responded quickly, managing to restore power in most areas by early morning.Furthermore, as Wednesday was designated as a scheduled maintenance day, pre-planned servicing and repair efforts helped stabilize the power supply throughout the city.
Ongoing work in certain areas continues to ensure complete restoration of electricity services.Residents are advised to remain cautious as cleanup efforts proceed, and Mahavitaran has assured that they are committed to addressing any lingering issues resulting from the storm. The swift response from the utility company has mitigated what could have been a more prolonged disruption to the city’s power supply.
