Nagpur CP Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal Leads Swift Rescue of 38 Labourers from Trafficking

In a prompt and effective operation, Nagpur Police, under Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, successfully rescued 38 labourers from Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, including 23 women, 5 adult men, and 9 minors (3 girls and 6 boys under 18), who were trapped in trafficking and bonded labour.Lured by promises of local employment, these labourers were transported far from home and handed over to a trafficker demanding ₹1.5 lakh as an “arrangement cost.”
The victims were forced to pay small advances and threatened with violence if they resisted. The rescue began when one victim secretly kept a mobile phone and alerted relatives, who then contacted NGO Pradeepan. Acting swiftly on this tip-off, Nagpur Police intervened, secured the victims’ safety, and took control of the situation.After being dropped at Nagpur Railway Station, the trafficker confronted the group again, extorting ₹57,000 and attempting further intimidation.
Despite this, the victims arranged their return to Chhindwara. Police have initiated stringent legal action against the accused under Bonded Labour and Human Trafficking laws.Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal spoke on the case:
“Human trafficking is among the most serious violations of human dignity. Our swift intervention saved 38 innocent lives, including minors, from exploitation. We are committed to apprehending all those involved and will enforce the strictest penalties. Under Operation Shakti, Nagpur Police is conducting focused drives against trafficking, bonded labour, and exploitation of vulnerable groups.
