Incomplete Construction of Ambazari Bridge Triggers Traffic Woes and Safety Concerns

Ambazari Road Bridge Concerns
The recently widened Ambazari Road bridge, which opened just a month ago, is already exhibiting signs of neglect, leaving motorists frustrated. After enduring nearly six months of traffic congestion during construction, commuters now face new challenges due to poorly constructed approach roads.
Safety Questions Raised
When the Ambazari Bridge was inaugurated, concerns were raised about its condition, as only one side was operational. This has led to questions regarding the safety basis on which the bridge was opened to the public. Despite its opening on October 11, following several delays, both sides of the bridge are in use while the approach roads remain in a hazardous state. The Public Works Department (PWD), responsible for the project, has yet to initiate work on concretizing these roads, which are currently filled with loose gravel, creating unsafe conditions for vehicles.
Commuter Frustration
Vivek Rahate, a regular commuter, voiced his concerns, stating, “While the bridge work caused long delays, the state of the approach roads is even worse now. Loose gravel is scattered everywhere, making it dangerous for vehicles and pedestrians. Additionally, the steep incline at both ends of the bridge is causing vehicles to skid and accidents to occur.”The bridge’s opening has been perceived as rushed, possibly to meet political timelines ahead of upcoming elections. However, the continued lack of completion and maintenance raises serious concerns about commuter safety.
