Firecracker Explosion Injures Five Children in Narhe; Authorities Urge Residents to Remain Cautious
Five children suffered minor burn injuries in a firecracker explosion at Gaurang Residency Society in Manajinagar, Narhe, near Navale Hospital on Monday evening, according to officials. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when the children reportedly ignited firecrackers on a drainage line. The explosion was caused by gas accumulation in the drainage chambers, as explained by Raghvendra Singh Kshirsagar, in-charge of Sinhagad Police Station.
Kshirsagar confirmed that while most of the children sustained minor burns, two required brief hospital treatment but were later discharged in stable condition. “We are still awaiting the medico-legal case (MLC) report,” he noted, adding that his team had visited the site and interviewed witnesses to piece together the events. “The injured children are stable, and we are in close contact with their families to provide necessary support. We strongly urge citizens to supervise children and take extra safety precautions during Diwali celebrations to avoid similar incidents.

”The explosion has left residents of Gaurang Residency Society and nearby communities shaken. One resident remarked, “Diwali festivities were just beginning, and while other societies are lit up with lights, ours remains dark, reflecting the shock of the incident. Thankfully, all the children are safe, and we’re grateful for that.”CCTV footage of the explosion has circulated online, raising public awareness and prompting officials to stress the importance of firecracker safety as Diwali celebrations continue.
