Nagpur Gets Its First Smart Bus Stop at Beltarodi

Nagpur is making strides toward enhanced urban infrastructure with the introduction of its first smart bus stop at Beltarodi, developed by the Besa-Pipla Nagar Panchayat. This modern facility is designed to improve commuter comfort and is equipped with ceiling fans, mobile charging ports compatible with multiple cable types (Type-C, Lightning, and Micro-USB), and well-lit seating sheltered under a sleek glass-and-steel canopy.

Investment and Features

Constructed at a cost of ₹6.5 to ₹7 lakh, the bus stop aims to elevate the daily travel experience for passengers through the integration of convenience and technology. Commuters can now enjoy cool air and charging points while waiting for buses—an upgrade that is especially appreciated during Nagpur’s hot weather, particularly by those who rely on smartphones for work or study. The bus stop also boasts clean tiled flooring, stainless steel benches, and provisions for advertising, which will generate revenue for further enhancements. Plans are in place to install water coolers to further improve comfort for waiting passengers.

Part of Smart City Mission

This initiative is part of a broader effort under the city’s Smart City Mission. Bharat Nandanwar, CEO of the Besa-Pipla Nagar Panchayat, has announced that similar smart bus stops will soon be developed at Revti Nagar, Ghogli, and Besa Square.

Positive Reception from Commuters

Daily commuters have welcomed this change. A local student remarked, “It’s a welcome improvement. Fans and chargers make a big difference.” The Beltarodi smart bus stop sets a new standard for public transport infrastructure in Nagpur, marking the beginning of a commuter-first urban future.
