To curb rising road accidents and ease daily traffic congestion, the Nagpur Traffic Police have officially banned heavy commercial vehicles on the road stretch connecting Zingabai Takli with Godhani village. Issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Aditya Mirkhelkar under Sections 115, 116, and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the daytime restriction applies daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, starting November 6, until further orders.
The decision follows growing public outrage after two recent fatal crashes on the narrow stretch highlighted the severe safety hazards posed by heavy commercial vehicles. Local residents have long demanded strict movement restrictions, citing frequent traffic bottlenecks, persistent unauthorized parking, and roadside encroachments—particularly along the key connecting road extending from Faras Chowk toward Godhani Road.
Traffic authorities are also taking proactive measures in light of the proposed development of Godhani Railway Station. With plans under consideration to introduce major train services on the Delhi route from this station, both passenger and vehicular traffic in the surrounding area are expected to surge significantly in the near future.

The anticipated rise in commuter volume has raised sharp concerns regarding the narrow road network’s current capacity to handle additional load. Consequently, local commuters and civic groups have urged city planners to implement comprehensive, long-term infrastructure upgrades and proactive traffic management strategies to prevent severe gridlock once the expanded railway hub becomes operational.
