Passengers traveling on the Indore–Nagpur Vande Bharat Express have been dealt a blow as the recently delivered 16-coach train rake, intended to increase capacity, has now been diverted to Delhi. This development dims hopes of additional seats during the busy festive season.Earlier, the Railways had planned to expand the Indore–Nagpur Vande Bharat from 8 to 16 coaches.
The new 16-coach rake had arrived in Indore days ago, where trial runs and maintenance began at Lakshmibai Nagar station. However, the Railway Board has now instructed that the rake be shifted to Delhi, reportedly to fulfill technical requirements for upcoming Vande Bharat services originating from the capital. This move puts the plan for a longer Vande Bharat train on the Indore–Nagpur route on hold.
Currently, the 8-coach service remains operational, with tickets selling out weeks in advance, especially during festivals. Passengers expressed disappointment, noting that the 16-coach train would have alleviated seat shortages and improved travel comfort.Railway officials clarified that the expansion plan is not cancelled but temporarily postponed.
They assured that Indore will be prioritized once new rakes are available, with fresh dates to be announced soon. Despite these reassurances, passenger frustration remains high amid the peak travel demand this festive season.
