The initiatives aim to bolster preparedness for any potential emergencies.During a joint press conference, Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal announced, “Security drills and inter-departmental coordination have already been completed at all sensitive installations, including the RSS headquarters.”
He confirmed that the exercises also encompassed the ordnance factory and the Air Force Maintenance Command.Additionally, District Collector Vipin Itankar shared that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a high-level meeting on disaster preparedness earlier in the week. “In the first phase, mock drills were carried out in eight districts. A coordinated mock drill was executed by the city police across five administrative zones at 3:15 PM as a trial run to evaluate emergency response capabilities. These drills are scheduled to be conducted both during the day and at night, ensuring preparedness under all conditions.“Night-time exercises will include standard operating procedures, such as turning off lights, drawing curtains, and simulating blackout conditions,” Singal explained. To support these drills, the government has released a 1.5-minute awareness video aimed at educating the public on the necessary steps to take when emergency sirens are activated.
Officials emphasized that public awareness is a crucial component of the preparedness campaign.“Our goal is to instill confidence in citizens and keep them informed. These drills involve everyone,” the collector added, highlighting the importance of community participation in ensuring safety and readiness.
