Pune Metro Earns ₹6.73 Crore in February as Ridership Surpasses 43 Lakh

The Pune Metro generated ₹6.73 crore in revenue for February 2025, with a total ridership of 43.07 lakh, as per data available on its official website.The Ramwadi to Vanaz line contributed more to the revenue, earning ₹3.71 crore with a ridership of 24.47 lakh. In comparison, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate line brought in ₹3.01 crore with a ridership of 18.59 lakh.
The February figures show a slight decline compared to January, which can be attributed to the shorter month (28 days in February versus 31 in January). In January, Pune Metro recorded a revenue of ₹7.87 crore with a ridership of 49.69 lakh. That month, the Ramwadi to Vanaz line earned ₹4.22 crore with 27.66 lakh riders, while the PCMC to Swargate line earned ₹3.64 crore with 21.98 lakh riders. Progress on Metro Line 3: Delays and Updates

Meanwhile, the much-anticipated Metro Line 3 (Shivajinagar to Hinjawadi) is expected to commence operations by the end of 2025. The concessionaire has requested an extension until September for project execution. Following the completion of construction, trial runs are anticipated to begin in October or November.According to a senior official from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA)83-85% of the work on Metro Line 3 has been completed so far. Additionally, the integrated flyover at University Chowk is expected to be finished by April.With steady ridership and ongoing expansions, the Pune Metro is making strides in providing improved public transportation, despite some delays in project timelines.
