Panchpaoli Bridge Demolished from Kamal Chowk to LC 570 as Work Picks Up Pace

The historic Panchpaoli Bridge, one of Nagpur’s oldest structures, has been completely demolished from Kamal Chowk to the Mehdi Bagh side, extending up to Railway Level Crossing (LC) 570. Currently, a 250-meter stretch of the old bridge no longer exists, and the next phase of demolition will commence from the Golibar Chowk side.Demolition work began on the night of April 16, and within just two weeks, 250 meters of the bridge have been dismantled.
As per reports, approximately 750 meters of the bridge remains to be demolished, with railway approval pending for the section above the railway tracks. Once this approval is granted, the demolition process will be accelerated with the addition of a new jaw crusher machine at the site.To mitigate air quality concerns in this densely populated area, especially during the summer months, sprinklers have been installed to help control dust dispersion caused by high winds.
The news about the said bridge demolition seems to be viral in the city as it is shared a lot on social media, check the local people posting about it on social media sites like X, have a look as under:
Officials estimate that once the railway block is secured, the entire demolition process could be completed in as little as 25 days.In the meantime, local commuters are experiencing significant challenges navigating the area between Kamal Chowk and Golibar Chowk. Frequent railway gate closures have resulted in long traffic jams, prompting many drivers to opt for longer alternate routes. Consequently, vehicle movement in this stretch has noticeably decreased.
